Dates: Sunday 10th February
Time: 10.30 - 4.30pm
Where: The Art Rooms Studio, Salts Mill, Victoria Road, Saltaire BD18 3LA
New printmaking classes at The Art Rooms in Saltaire with Brian Hindmarch, artist and tutor of printmaking and Jacky Al-Samarraie, designer and founder of The Art Rooms.
Classes are aimed at adults wanting to explore their creativity and learn something new regardless of previous experience. Participants can work at their own level.
DRYPOINT is a process where lines shapes and tones are inscribed or scratched into a surface such as zinc, copper, aluminium, acrylic, perspex, acetate, plastics etc.
The image created is similar to an etching process, although the resulting quality of line has a rich, velvety quality. This is due to the ‘burr’ which is raised alongside the scratched line, to which ink will adhere.
Places available are limited to 6.
Classes need to be booked and paid for in advance.
Classes can be cancelled up to 7 days before the workshop for a full refund. We can't offer refunds after this deadline.
Once you have booked your place we will email further details about the session, so you have time to plan and source ideas if necessary.
Materials for the class.
What to bring:
An apron or old shirt to protect clothes from ink.
Any images, photographs or source material you would like to use in your work.
We will stop for a 30 minute lunch break. Please bring lunch or there are cafes and sandwich shops in Saltaire Village if you prefer to go out at lunchtime.
Our studio is part of Salts Mill built in 1853. Our entrance is on a slope and we have two steps down into the building. We also have a few steps inside the building which need to be used to get access to the bathroom.
The fire escape is via a full staircase.
